Why a recovered lead may have no phone number

Why a recovered lead may have no phone number

Some recovered leads include a phone number and some do not.

Phone is optional in Pipeline On and should not be required for your Zapier or CRM workflow to work.

Why phone can be missing

Phone may be missing because:

  • The available match data did not include a phone number.
  • The confidence level was not high enough.
  • The person could only be matched to email, name, address, or household details.
  • Privacy, consent, or data-source rules limited what was available.
  • The recovered record represents a household or property signal rather than a confirmed phone-ready contact.

What to do instead

If phone is missing, use:

  • Email follow-up, if email is available.
  • Postcard follow-up, if address is available.
  • CRM review task.
  • Meta/Facebook retargeting, if you are using audiences.
  • Suppression if the lead is outside service area or low quality.

Zapier setup

Do not make phone a required field in Zapier unless your workflow has a fallback path.

Better options:

  • Create the CRM record without phone.
  • Create a review task when phone is missing.
  • Route no-phone leads to email or postcard follow-up.
  • Use a Zapier filter so required-field failures do not break the Zap.

What support needs

If phone is missing more often than expected, contact support with:

  • Website domain.
  • Date range.
  • Example lead IDs.
  • Whether the leads had email or address.
