Do-not-contact, opt-out, and deletion requests

This article is general setup guidance, not legal advice.

If someone asks not to be contacted, treat the request seriously and stop follow-up while the request is reviewed.

Common request types

People may ask to:

  • Stop calls.
  • Stop emails.
  • Stop direct mail.
  • Be removed from follow-up.
  • Delete their information.
  • Know what information you have.
  • Understand how their information was collected.

What your team should do

For a simple no-contact request:

  1. Stop active follow-up.
  2. Mark the CRM record.
  3. Add the person to the appropriate suppression list.
  4. Record the date and channel.
  5. Escalate if the request mentions privacy, deletion, legal rights, or data access.

What to say

"No problem. I will mark this so we do not continue following up. If you have a privacy request, I can route that to the right person."

Do not argue

Do not debate whether the contact was allowed.

Do not keep selling after the person asks to stop.

What to send support

If Pipeline On support needs to help, send:

  • Business name.
  • Website domain.
  • Contact email or phone to suppress.
  • Request type.
  • Date received.

Do not send extra sensitive details unless support asks.
